This novel is a deeply personal story of transformation, resilience, and the unrelenting will to reclaim one’s life. It begins with a devastating cancer diagnosis that altered the course of my future, two major surgeries, months of chemotherapy, and the daily battle of recovery. I awoke from a 5.5-hour procedure to a new reality: a colostomy bag, a section of my colon gone, and two types of cancer removed. My old life ended that day, and a new one began.

But this story is about more than illness. During my long hospital stays, I met others who, like me, were survivors, not just of disease, but of violent, abusive relationships. I, too, carry the scars of such trauma. The physical and psychological toll of abuse mirrors that of cancer: both demand strength, reinvention, and the courage to fight back.

I do not consider myself a survivor. I am a fighter.                                                   

 I did not choose to become an author but rather it chose me.

This novel, inspired by my experiences, follows a woman who escapes a violent relationship and finds strength through the guidance of a seasoned woodsman. Together, they forge a path to her New Life Beginning.
